Festival Weekend


Bristol Ryhthm and Roots Festival

takes place this weekend Sept 15-17, 2006
Located on the State Street line of Bristol Tennessee and Virginia.
Some artist scheduled for the event include;
Seldom Scene, Railroad Earth, The EveryBodyFields,
Hot Buttered Rum, Darrell Scott, The Del McCoury Band,
Wayne Henderson, and so on.

Weekend pass advanced tickets are 30$, at the gate $45
Single day pass tickets are $15
(Children 12 & Under: Admitted Free)

There are a lot of reasons to be at this festival. Of course, the everybodyfields and Del McCoury Band will both be incredible. I also like Railroad Earth a lot. They are one of several "progressive" bluegrass bands, which is frankly a sub-genre that can get real old, real quick. But these guys are the exception. Railroad Earth is a great band, with genuinely unique arrangments. Go see 'em.

Did I forget to mention Darrell Scott? Probably one of the top five songwriters on the planet right now. Seriously.

I have to say, the everybodyfields are top notch. I did read that the guy who played bottleneck on a resonator left the band and I have not heard them since then. That guy was amazingly effective.
