The second episode of Podcast Appalachia is now available. In this episode, I discuss the first explorers and settlers to enter the Appalachian region. You can listen here or view a transcript here. It's also available on iTunes.

Great! I never realized there were tribes other than the Cherokee in the southern Appalachian Mountain area. Looking forward to the next episode.
That was fascinating. Thanks for all the in-depth research. I'd love to hear more about how the Eastern Band of Cherokees (those who remained in NC and didn't walk the Trail of Tears) and the Appalachians settlers got along in the Smoky mountains.
Oh my gosh, listening to you is like water over a stream. Your accent is singing me a melody up here in Yank territory. Digging the info. Shannon
Thank you all very much! I'm glad you enjoy the podcast. And I'm also glad at least some people like my accent!
Also, I am planning to do some more episodes on the Cherokee, hopefully in the near future :-)
